A helicopter ride home

Matthew Libatique and Harrison Ford After enduring some of the more long-winded awards speeches in recent memory -- even by ASC standards -- the characteristically shy Harrison Ford, who was given the Board of Governors laurel, kept his remarks mercifully short, as did those who won competitive prizes at the d.p. kudofest Sunday at Hollywood and Highland's Grand Ballroom. Ford, whose reel included d.p. touchstones "Apocalypse Now" and "Bladerunner," gave a shoutout to dolly grips, who made it easy for lensers like presenter Matthew Libatique, to mimimize Ford's time on set. The prize? A ride home on Ford's helicopter.
