'Kilimandjaro' wins Lux prize

The city -- "L'ensemble des neiges du Kilimandjaro" by French helmer Robert Guediguian has won the ecu Parliament's Lux prize. Award was introduced Wednesday, coincidentally the film's release date in Gaul. Pic follows union activist Michel (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) because he questions his devote society after losing his job and being conned at gun-point by among his former workmates. The Lux prize recognizes films that illustrate European values, cultural diversity or debate around the European project. The prize money enables the winning film to become subtitled within the 23 official languages from the Eu and supports its distribution within the 27 EU states. Greek foreign-language Oscar hopeful "Attenberg" by Athina Rachel Tsangari and "Play" by Ruben Ostlund of Sweden were also in contention. The 3 films were selected from 10 suggested with a jury of 17 cinema professionals. People from the 736-chair parliament were built with a month to see the flicks and election.
